MALARIA PREVENTION AND CONTROL PROGRAM

Malaria Prevention and Control program aims at preventing and controlling malaria in the communities where we work through a combination of interventions.  In addition to distribution of Insecticide treated bed nets, other activities include; training of community health workers (VHTS), social marketing of malaria drugs especially ACT, training and equipping school children with knowledge around malaria transmission, symptoms, prevention and care-seeking behaviors.

Our trainings also emphasize larvae and vector control practices which include among others: removal or permanent destruction of mosquito breeding sites by filling depressions that collect water, by ditching marshy areas to remove standing water, planting insect repelling plants such as Rosemary, Lemon grass, Marigold and others around the home.
